Hey there! My name's Maggie, and I'm currently studying Graphic Design and Writing at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. During the past seven years, I've gained a passion for design, whether it be graphic design, web design and development, or photography. It's served as an amazing hobby, but the thought of using this passion to make a living would be a dream come true. I believe with all my heart that I can do anything. As ridiculous as that sounds, I feel that if I don't believe in myself, why should anyone else? It's this confidence and drive that push me to become a little better every day.
Besides making neat stuff, I love Gill Sans, stand-up comedy, and spaghetti squash. I think Parks & Recreation is the greatest television comedy of the 21st century, and American Horror Story is the best show ever. My favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut, and my favorite animals are penguins and hedgehogs. I'm a dog person.
So, why should you hire me? Well for starters, I'm...
I often get asked, "What class did you learn that in?" The truth is, college classes can't keep up with the quickly-changing field of web design. But passion can. I believe that if you love what you do, learning shouldn't be a chore. I don't wait to be taught; I'd rather take the initiative to learn as much as I can as often as I can.
I won't ever know everything there is to know about design, but I figure it's at least worth a shot! These days, you can't throw a rock without hitting some new technique, resource, or tool. The internet is filled with brilliant people who are constantly adding to an enormous pool of knowledge. When my interest is sparked, I love delving in and getting my hands dirty.
Design is something I do and love, but's not who I am. When I have to kill a metaphorical puppy, I have no problem doing so. I can take a critique, and I know how and when to defend my work without being defensive. I am confident but not cocky, humble but not a pushover. I have a strong background in customer service, so I know how to treat clients without being a doormat.
